Literature in Cinema

Syllabus

This course is designed for each student to further appreciate literature upon viewing film versions of the text.  It is our goal to:

·        Study/view contributions of classic literature

·        Compare/contrast- written/film

·        Evaluate the impact of a production on the theme

·        Write reviews, critiques, and creative interpretations

·        Identify author, title and director

·        Define the text/film’s theme, characters, plot and certain terms related to film

The class will survey a piece, read excerpts, or occasionally read entire selections and then view a film adaptation of the text.  Each pupil will independently read a literary selection from the following list for an upcoming report that compares and contrasts text to film.  More information on this assignment will be announced.  Periodic quizzes and tests will be given.  Please retain this page all semester.

Note: It will be the student’s responsibility to follow up any missed viewings after an excused absence.  I am willing to play missed portions during Lunch A or after school until 3:10.  The VHS tapes and DVDs will NOT leave the classroom.
